NDTC Expert Q&A: Empowering Your Job Search
February 16, 2023
About the event
Black History Month Event!
There’s no better time to get started in politics than now. There’s no better person to get involved than you.
Building the bench means drawing upon the expertise and diversity of experiences each and every person brings to the table. For Black job seekers in Democratic spaces, it can be especially challenging to make your way into networks and organizations because of institutional racism in politics.
So we’re bringing together a panel of Black voices from across the Democratic ecosystem to bring you their expertise and insight of navigating these systems.
Whether you’re already involved in politics or looking to make a career change, this discussion will cover common questions and challenges you might face as you search for a political job. We’ll cover networking, tidying up that resume, and the many types of roles available.
Our experts, Cheryl D Mayes, Jamarr Brown, and Jasmine Worles, have gone through the job search themselves, and you can ask them directly how they did it!
A recommended, but not required course to complete prior to this event is Starting a Career in Politics.
This document provides tips for what to do before, during, and after an NDTC Expert Q&A to get the most out of the event.

We will be using Zoom for this webinar, and please test out using Zoom prior to this meeting. We encourage downloading the app version (instead of viewing directly in your web browser) so that you can fully participate in any breakout groups.
Your Zoom link is visible once registered for this event on our website, and the Zoom link will be emailed as a reminder to you 30 minutes prior to the start of the training. Zoom will ask you to verify that you’re an authorized user. This is a security measure we’ve added – all you need to do is sign in to a free Zoom account (this is different from your traindemocrats.org account). For more information on how to set up your Zoom account, please click here.
NDTC will record this event: by attending, you give NDTC permission to take photographs and record videos including me at this event, and to use them for its internal and external purposes.
