So You Want to Run For Office?
March 17, 2022
About the event
Special Women’s History Month Event!
Despite women accounting for over half of the U.S. population, women are still in the minority for all positions of elected office, across every level in every state. The first woman elected to Congress, Jeannette Rankin, said of her momentous victory in 1916, “I may be the first woman member of Congress, but I won’t be the last.” And she was right!
That’s why we’re bringing you this special edition of our So You Want to Run for Office Training geared towards the unique challenges women face on the campaign trail. We invite folks who identify or partially identify as women to attend this training as a part of our Women’s History Month programming.
Join one of our experts trainers, Anna Carlson-Ziegler, as she covers the ins and outs of making the decision to run and for what office. This training is encouraged for prospective and early-stage candidates running for any office.
You will learn the following in this training:
- Understand the steps necessary to run for office
- Explain best practices for choosing which office to run for
- Identify what support you’ll need from your team
- Prepare for sharing your decision to run with friends and family
Please note that each “So You Want to Run for Office?” training is limited capacity to increase opportunities for discussion and participation. If this session is full or doesn’t fit your schedule, you can find a list of upcoming sessions HERE.
A recommended (but not required) course for this training is So You Think You Want To Run?
