About the event
SPECIAL BLACK HISTORY MONTH EVENT
Are you considering running for office? Are you ready to run and you want to know how?
The decision to run for office comes with unique challenges, fears, and obstacles depending on your background, community, and unique experiences. As part of our Black History month programming focused on building Black political power, we are offering a special version of our So You Think You Want to Run virtual live training, specifically for prospective and early stage Black candidates.
Come as trainer Brittny Baxter leads you through this very interactive training and helps you explore if running for office is right for you.
You will learn the following in this training:
- Understand the steps necessary to run for office
- Explain best practices for choosing which office to run for
- Identify what support you’ll need from your team
- Prepare for sharing your decision to run with friends and family
Please note that each “So You Want to Run for Office?” training is limited capacity to increase opportunities for discussion and participation. If this session is full or doesn’t fit your schedule, you can find a list of upcoming sessions HERE.
A recommended (but not required) (course) for this training is So You Think You Want To Run?

We will be using Zoom for this webinar, and please test out using Zoom prior to this meeting. We encourage downloading the app version (instead of viewing directly in your web browser) so that you can fully participate in any breakout groups.
Your Zoom link is visible once registered for this event on our website, and the Zoom link will be emailed as a reminder to you 30 minutes prior to the start of the training. Zoom will ask you to verify that you’re an authorized user. This is a security measure we’ve added – all you need to do is sign in to a free Zoom account (this is different from your traindemocrats.org account). For more information on how to set up your Zoom account, please click here.
NDTC will record this event: by attending, you give them permission to take photographs and record videos, including me at this event, and to use them for their internal and external purposes.
