About the event
Special Hispanic Heritage Month Event!
Join the National Democratic Training Committee and Latino Victory Fund on Tuesday, October 11th for a special So You Want to Run for Office for National Hispanic Heritage Month!
Despite being the second largest ethnic group in the United States, Hispanic Americans continually face electoral underrepresentation. Only 2% of elected officials nationwide identify as Latino.
That’s why we’re bringing together this special So You Want to Run for Office training geared towards potential and new Hispanic and Latino candidates and tailored for the unique challenges you’ll face on the campaign trail.
Designed for prospective and early-stage candidates running for office, we will walk you through the ins and outs of making the decision to run for office and which office to run for.
You will learn the following in this training:
- Understand the steps necessary to run for office
- Explain best practices for choosing which office to run for
- Identify what support you’ll need from your team
- Prepare for sharing your decision to run with friends and family
Additionally, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) will join to share her experience running as a Latina candidate, and now as an elected official.
Please note that each “So You Want to Run for Office?” training is limited capacity to increase opportunities for discussion and participation. If this session is full or doesn’t fit your schedule, you can find a list of upcoming sessions HERE.
