About the event

Women leaders are everywhere in our communities, inside and outside formal political positions. Yet women’s contributions continue to be downplayed, and systemic barriers prevent many women from running for office. Especially with the continued fallout from the 2022 Dobbs decision that overturned federal abortion protections, it is patently clear that women’s issues deserve to be prioritized.

And electing more women to political office is a key part of the solution to centering issues related to abortion, childcare, economic justice, and so much more!

That’s why in celebrating Women’s History Month, NDTC is hosting this special edition of our So You Want to Run for Office Training geared towards Democratic women interested or thinking about running for political office!

Women are often less likely to pursue roles that they don’t feel 100% qualified for. So we’re here to change that expectation. Your own life experiences that make you unique are exactly what can make you a stellar candidate.

Our expert trainer will cover the ins and outs of making the decision to run and for what office. This training is encouraged for prospective and early-stage women candidates running for any office.

We invite folks who identify or partially identify as women to attend this training as a part of our Women’s History Month programming.

You will learn the following in this training:

  • Understand the steps necessary to run for office
  • Explain best practices for choosing which office to run for
  • Identify what support you’ll need from your team
  • Prepare for sharing your decision to run with friends and family

Please note that each “So You Want to Run for Office?” training is limited capacity to increase opportunities for discussion and participation. If this session is full or doesn’t fit your schedule, you can find a list of upcoming sessions HERE.
