So You Want to Run for Office: Native American Heritage Month Event

November 3, 2022

About the event

Special Native American Heritage Month Event!

Join the National Democratic Training Committee on Wednesday, November 3rd for a special So You Want to Run for Office for Native American Heritage Month.

The past few election cycles have seen historic strides in Native and Indigenous representation in elected office. Just this September, Congress welcomed an Alaska Native to Congress, where  five other Indigenous folks already serve.

But these six Indigenous Congresspeople are just the beginning. That’s why we’re hosting this special edition of So You Want to Run for Office tailored towards the unique needs and challenges Indigenous candidates might face on the trail through Election Day.

Designed for prospective and early-stage candidates running for office, we will walk you through the ins and outs of making the decision to run for office and which office to run for.

You will learn the following in this training:

  • Understand the steps necessary to run for office
  • Explain best practices for choosing which office to run for
  • Identify what support you’ll need from your team
  • Prepare for sharing your decision to run with friends and family

Please note that each “So You Want to Run for Office?” training is limited capacity to increase opportunities for discussion and participation. If this session is full or doesn’t fit your schedule, you can find a list of upcoming sessions HERE.
