Meet Our Trainers

Cheryl Mayes is a former Senior staffer in the U.S. House of Representatives (TN, District 5) and the Founder/Principal Consultant of My Toolbox Consulting, a leadership development and training consulting firm based in Nashville, TN. Cheryl is experienced as an Accountant, Community Engagement Advocate/Organizer and Leadership/Development Trainer, and Education Program Director. She serves on the Board of Directors with the Davidson County Democratic Women.

A longtime education advocate, Cheryl was recently elected to serve a second term in public office as a member of the Board of Education for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS). She previously served in this role for four years, (2010-2014) her last two as the Chairperson of the Board. As a former candidate, elected official and community organizer, Cheryl brings a unique perspective and passion to educating current and future voters on the importance of getting and staying engaged at all levels of government.
