There are two ways to categorize donation pledges: firmness of commitment and specificity of amount. Firmness determines if a pledge is hard or soft, while specificity indicates whether someone committed to a concrete dollar amount or to a more generic, “something.” To help interpret and categorize these different responses, this resource is a translation chart of pledge classifications and their respective follow-ups.
