How to Prepare Your Candidate for a Forum

Description

As a member of the Communications team, you will play a large role in ensuring that your candidate is ready to face a moderator and voters. One of the avenues Communications teams often use to get the candidate’s message in front of voters is through candidate forums: debate or town hall-style events where candidates come before the public and defend their records or advance their proposals. This course will provide you with a guide for how to properly research, brief, and prepare your candidate for a forum.

Course Objectives

    • Research forum moderators and topics

    • Develop briefing memos to brief your candidate on the topics of the forum

    • Practice with and prepare your candidate to participate in a forum

    • Debrief your candidate’s performance
